1922 - L. H. Baekerland founds the Bakelite Corporation. This was from a merger between three companies: the 'General Bakelite Company', the 'Condensite Company of America', and the Redmanol Chemical Products Company.

1939 - The Bakelite Corporation merges into Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation.
