1773 - along with his brother Joseph, Richard Earlom and Josiah Boydell, was sent to Houghton Hall in Norfolk to record the paintings in the collection. 1779 - won a silver medal at the Royal Academy. 1780 - won a gold medal at the Royal Academy. 1782 - sailed for India. 1784 - gave 300 rupees to the building of St John's Church in Calcutta. 1785 - left Calcutta for Murishdabad.
