1802 - appointed Master Shipwright at Plymouth Dockyard. 1809 - designed the 170-gun, five tiered 'Duke of Kent' which was never built. 1813 - appointed joint Surveyor of the Navy with Robert Seppings. 1831 - retired from his position as Surveyor.
