Airtech Ltd was established in 1947 at the Haddenham airfield. Chartair, a company established in 1946 by Grp.Capt. Guy Lawrence, bought the airfield with the intention of developing an aircraft overhaul and maintenance centre, Airtech Ltd, in response to the increasing number of small airlines across Britain and Europe. In their early years, the company focused on repairing and maintaining aircraft and became one of the largest centres of its kind in Europe. But after this business began declining, they diversified into other areas such as installing radios and other electronics into army vehicles and manufacturing electronic equipment for the telecommunications industry.
By 1968, the company became a subsidiary of Ropner Holdings and they remained on the Haddenham site until the 1990s.
