Anton/Bauer was established by Anton Wilson, a cameraman for the ABC television network, and his Cornell University roommate, George Bauer, an electrical engineer. It was established in 1970 with the intention of building a better battery. The company have developed a number of innovations such as the Gold Mount, the InterActive digital batteries, and the PowerTap port. Today, the company is part of The Vitec Group Plc and is based in Shelton, Connecticut. It continues to design and manufacture power solutions for camera operators and content creators.
