1620 - earliest known plates are the portraits of Hugh Broughton and William Whitaker. 1632 - made one of his best portraits, that of Sir Benjamin Rudyerd. 1638 - completed his masterpiece, the two-plate profile view of the ship Sovereign of the seas, measuring nearly 3 feet across and made to celebrate the ship's launch, and commissioned by its builder, Peter Pett.
