Born Hong Kong to English father and Chinese mother; interned by Japanese 1941-1945; emigrated to England at end of war; served RAF; studied art in Paris from 1952; first photograph published 1957, subsequently working for Taltler magazine and Royal Court theatre in late 1950s; started Lewis Morley Studios at Establishment Club in London in 1961; best remembered for photograph of Christine Keeler (born 22 February 1942); emigrated to Australia 1971 working on studio and commercial photography (food, architecture, interior design); retired 1987; retrospective exhibition at National Portrait Gallery in 1989; retrospective at Art Gallery of New South Wales in 2006; appointed to the Order of Australia in 2010
