Giovanni Battista Ronchetti emigrated from Lake Como in Italy to Manchester in 1790. He was a barometer maker and set up a business making and selling barometers. He formed part of the early Italian community in Manchester. Business partner: H Lomas; Father of Charles Joshua Ronchetti.

The Ronchetti family contributed to science by inventing and making high-quality scientific instruments that were used by pioneering scientists like John Dalton.
