Division created following merger of BTH and MV turbine interests in 1958. With the merging of B.T.-H and M-V turbine interests in 1958 the A.E.I. Turbine-Generator Division was formed. At that time the Rugby turbine factory formed a significant part of the Divsion's facilities while the new turbine works at Larne, which had commenced production at the beginning of 1957, was being brought into operation. As activity at Larne increased, turbine-generator activities at Rugby were being reduced and now the division has four factories:-

Trafford Park, Main Works; Direct-coupled turbines and all generators, and exciters.

Trafford Park, Mosley Road Works; Geared turbines (gas and steam). Trafford Park eployed a combined workforce of 3650 people.

Larne Works; Direct-coupled turbines and large scale fabrication of the largest parts of turbines and generators. Employed 1320 people.

Petershill Works; Condensors and heat exchangers and large scale fabrication works. Employed 670 people.
