Aerialite Ltd was incorporated in 1932. Although the earliest newspaper advertisements give the company's address as 29 Amber Street, Manchester, the business is most associated with the wire-drawing mill at Castle Works, Stalybridge and was advertising this address from the 1930s onwards. Aerialite manufactured power and lighting electric cable (including automobile cables), television aerials and associated equipment. From 1947, when it acquired Nettle Accessories Ltd, the company also sold "Nettle" brand electric wiring accessories.
In 1961 Aerialite had 2000 employees. The company is known to have been active up until the 1980s and was formally disolved in 1988.
