Deborah Hammond is a San Francisco artist who has focused her attention on the possibilities of the portrait for many years. Her photography explores the psychology of the self as well as the collective unconscious, and endeavors to uncover the connection between the social and the personal, the concrete and the abstract. She also values the qualities of photography which allows for the illumination of things that words cannot express. Her photographs have been exhibited internationally, and are included in a number of collections.
