Born Avrom Hirsch Goldbogen in Minneapolis to an orthadox Jewish family, Mike Todd was a successful film producer as well as a prolific Broadway theatre producer. He was the driving force behind the development of the Todd-AO widescreen film format with the American Optical Company. He was married three times, including to actress Elizabeth Taylor at the time of his death.
