Geoff Mee was born in in 1952 and became an Engineering Student on British Rail: Southern Region in 1971. He then worked at the Outdoor Machinery Department, Waterloo, as a Power Supply Engineer on the South Eastern Division and Depot Area Maintenance Engineer at Willesden for British Rail: London Midland Region. He then worked as Change Manager, Wolverton Works before coming a Train Planning Manager on the South Eastern Division. In 1988 he was appointed as Managing Director for Network South East’s South East Division, leaving that role in 1993 to become the Privatisation Director for the British Railways Board until 1995. He then moved into railway consultancy and between 1996 and 2003 worked as Managing Director for Veolia Transportation’s South Central and South Central and South Eastern train companies, the Stockholm Metro system, and the Luas light rail system in Dublin.
