Christopher Gibb was born in 1963 and joined the Divisional Manager's Office at Croydon in 1981 as a Junior Clerk. He went to work as a List Clerk in Woking and Train Planner in Glasgow before becoming a British Rail Management Trainee. He then worked as Train Crew Supervisor at Polmadie, Train Crew Manager in Ayr, before moving to Provincial Wales & Western as a Service Group Manager. Between 1996 and 2003 he worked as Managing Director of Wales & West. He was appointed Managing Director Virgin Cross Country in 2003, staying in this role until 2007 when he became Chief Operating Officer for Virgin Rail Group until 2013. He has served as a Non-Executive Director of Network Rail from 2013 onwards.
