Adrian Caltieri was born in 1957. He became a Trainee Shunter and a Trainee Signalman in 1977 and then a Relief Signalman in 1978. He became a Management Trainee and then a Temporary Traffic Assistant at Cambridge, Station Manager at Harrogate, Station Manager at Romford, and Duty Station Manager at London Victoria. He then joined InterCity East Coast as Area Finance Manager at King’s Cross, and then in 1989 became a British Rail Operations Manager at King's Cross until 1993. He moved to York in 1993 to join the British Rail Franchise Development Team, staying until 1996. He then joined Great North Eastern Railway (GNER) as Track Access Manager, Manager Planning and Development, Manager Regulation and Compliance from 1996 to 2008. He then worked as Head of Operations Development and Deputy Operations Director for National Express East Coast from 2008 to 2009. In 2010 he became the Head of Operations Projects for East Coast Mainline Limited, serving in this capacity until 2012.
