Sir Moir Lockhead was born in 1945. He became an Apprentice Mechanic at United Automobile Services in 1960 and became a Management Trainee at Tarmac Ltd. in 1965. From 1979 to 1985 he served as the Chief Engineer for Glasgow City Transport from 1979 to 1985. He became General Manager of Grampian Regional Transport in 1985. In 1989 he was appointed as the Chief Executive of GRT Group, which later was known as First Group Plc., he left this position in 2010.
