Allan Peter Newbould, known as Peter Newbould, was born in 1943. He joined British Rail as a Student Civil Engineer at King's Cross from 1961 until 1966. He then undertook various jobs in civil engineering at York, King's Cross and Peterborough between 1966 and 1983. He then became when he worked as Relief Area Manager at Cambridge from 1983 to 1984. Between 1984 and 1988 he worked as Operations Manager in the Newcastle area. He was appointed as Route Manager for London Tilbury & Southend, serving in this capacity from 1988 to 1991. He joined Thameslink 2000 as the Planning & Finance Director in 1991, serving in this capacity until 1993 and then moved to South West Trains as Franchise Development Manager. In 1994 he was employed as Strathclyde Marketing Manager, staying in this role until 1997 when he became Principal Consultant for TCI/AEA Technology, staying in this role until 2005. From 2005 he worked on the North London Line gating for Transport for London’s Oyster project, leaving this post in 2008.
