Stanley George Sidney Judd was born in 1936. He worked as a Clerk at British Railways Headquarters from 1958 to 1961. He became a Management Trainee in British Railways: Western Region from 1961 until 1964. He served as Station Manager in Ebbw Vale and as the Area Manager in Okehampton from 1964 to 1968. He joined Freightliner undertaking terminal and commercial posts from 1968 to 1979. He returned to British Railways Headquarters and worked in Management Services between 1979 and 1982. In 1982 he stayed at British Railways Headquarters and undertook freight business posts until 1992. Between 1993 and 1996 he acted as Consultant to the Safety Validation Panel Chairman.
