Paul Crowther was born in 1961. He joined the Metropolitan Police as a Clerk in the Special Branch. In 1980 he came a Constable in the London Transport Division of the British Transport Police and subsequently undertook a secondment to the Metropolitan Police. He became an Inspector at Waterloo for the British Transport Police in 1992 and subsequently became Acting Superintendent of the London South Division, the Head of Training, Detective Superintendent and the Chief Superintendent and Head of Corporate Development. In 2004 he became the Area Commander for the Underground until 2007. He then was appointed as the Assistant Chief Constable Crime. He was then appointed as the Interim Deputy Chief Constable before becoming the Deputy Chief Constable. In 2014 he was appointed as the Chief Constable of the British Transport Police.
