Anthony John Campbell Smith was born in 1960. He started his career as an Articled Clerk, before becoming a Solicitor with Booth & Blackwell. He then became a Legal Advisor and a Senior Campaigns Executive for Which? Magazine/Consumers International. Between 1986 to 1999 he was the Acting Director at ICTIS, before becoming the Director General of the Central Rail Users’ Consultative Committee (CRUCC), a position he held until 2002. He then was appointed as the Chief Executive for Rail Passengers’ Council (RPC), he remained in the position when the body was renamed as Passenger Focus in 2005 and subsequently when it became known as Transport Focus from 2015 onwards.
