Richard Morris studied at Exeter University. He started his railway career when he joined the British Railways Management traineeship programme in 1970. Following his training, he occupied various operating posts in British Railway’s Liverpool Street Division in the 1970s. In 1986 he became Operations Planning Manager for British Railways Board, the regionalisation led him to become the Regional Operating Manager for Anglia in 1988. He then managed the Freightliner network in 1989-1990 as the Deputy Managing Director for Railfreight Distribution. From 1990 to 1992 he was Operations Manager for British Railways Board. In 1992, he joined Eurotunnel as Railway Operations Director. He worked as Executive Director, London & South East for the Strategic Rail Authority between 1999 and 2001. Between 2002 and 2010, he occupied different executive roles in London: London Lines, Chiltern Railways and Cross London Rail Links (CLRL). He joined Eurostar in 2013 as Business and Service Continuity Director. Finally, since 2013, he has conducted reviews, inquiries or provided advice on various projects across the world: Depart of Transport, Melbourne Transport Australia, Dubai Metro, Network Rail, Singapore Railway franchise, Arriva trains, Qatar government, Metrolinx Canada, HSL Finland, 2013-2020.
