Founded by racing driver Frank Williams in 1977, Williams Racing is a British Formula 1 racing team, legally known as Williams Grand Prix Engineering Ltd. Williams have wone nine World Constructors' Championships, and drivers have won seven World Drivers' Championships with the team. Ayrton Senna was in his first season with Williams when he was killed in a crash at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

Williams continued under the majority ownership of the Williams family until 2020, when it was sold. Frank Williams continued to serve as its Team Principal until the sale, although his daughter Claire Williams had actually performed the role (under the title of Deputy Team Principal) from 2013-2020.
