Born Lucille LeSueur in Texas, Joan Crawford was an American dancer and Actress. She first worked in travelling dance troupes and vaudeville shows, before making the transition to silent movies, and later to 'talkies'. She worked for MGM and Warner Brothers studios among others, and won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the 1946 film, Mildred Pierce.
