Hans Tucher (or Ducher) was a member of a family of sundial makers spanning three generations; there were three different sundial makers named Hans Ducher or Tucher: Hans Tucher (d. 1550) Hans II (d. 1615) and Hans III (1547-1632), who became masters in 1537, 1557 and 1570 respectively; Hans II and Hans III both adopted a crowned snake as a mark to sign their instruments, making it difficult to determine which maker was responsible.
