The company was founded in 1800 under the name Messrs Jennens & Co which changed to Charles Jennens early in the company's history finally becoming Jennens & Co Ltd around 1912.. From the 1860's the company started to print their buttons with the Prince of Wales plume. In 1924 it merged with Gaunt and Sons.
