Set up by the novelist HG Wells and Dr RD Lawrence, currently Diabetes UK. The charity has run holidays for children since the 1930s. Diabetes UK funds UK based research into the causes and treatment of diabetes and its complications. The first research grant was made in 1936. Leaflets and magazines are also produced.
