Manning Wardle & Co 1840 - 1926

Hunslet, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom

Founded in 1840 and based at Boyne Engine Works in Jack Lane, Hunslet. Built specialist locomotives for contractors use. It became uncompetive as it refused to use mass production methods and closed in 1926. Kitsons acquired much of their patterns and equipment. Today the Manning Wardle designs are owned by the Hunslet-Barclay. The trademark name Manning Wardle is owned by a company formed in 1999 to preserve the name for the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway
