Founded by Sir Clive Sinclair (b 1940); developer of hi-fi products, radios, calculators, portable televisions and scientific instruments. Sir Clive Sinclair resigned in 1979 and the company was sold off between 1979 and 1980 to ESL Bristol and Binatone. The remainder of the company manufactured scientific instruments and was renamed Thandar Electronics Ltd.
