1839 - went to Paris. c1841 - moved to Rome. 1849 - escaped conscription in Italy by moving to Spain. 1853 - moved to England on the advice of John Phillip and Francis William Topham. 1858 - sent to India to record the reoccupation after the Indian mutiny. 1859 - returned to England. 1868 - returned to Stockholm
