Incorporated on 26th May 1865 to take over Marc Brunel's Thames Tunnel and link GER, :BSCR and SER at New Cross. From 1892 it was worked by LBSCR, GER and M&DR. The MetR ran after 1913. It was acquired by SR on 1st January 1925.
