1834 - first exhibition of portraits at the Society of British Artists in Suffolk Street, London. 1838 - exhibited chalk portrait of Charles Dickens (Sketch of Boz). 1854 - travelled to America to draw Henry Longfellow in chalk. 1861 - returned to England.
