1779 - published Prince of Peace & became rector of Goadby Marwood, Leicestershire. 1785 - obtained patent for first power loom. 1793 - moved to London. 1801 - became superintendent of the duke of Bedford's model farm at Woburn. 1809 - awarded a grant of £10,000 by parliament. 1820 - invented a 'carriage without horses' called the 'Centaur Carriage’.
