Son of an architect; Educated at the London University School; studied at South Kensington and later in Europe at Antwerp, Dusseldorf and Paris; Exhibited on the continent and then in London at Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) gallery in Suffolk Street, London; studio in Amberley, Sussex
1885 - exhibited at the Royal Academy (London);
1896 - painted oil of the Launch of the 'Fuji' at Blackwall
1911 - painted 'HMS Thunderer', the last ship to be built by the Thames Ironworks, Shipbuilding & Engineering Company; signed work as GERALD M BURN
