1874 - founded by Samson Fox with financial backing from Scotts of Greenock, (the Clyde shipbuilders). Their initial product was straight and crank axles for locomotives.

1877 - lodged patent for the Corrugated Furnace.

1889 - exhibited cast iron vases at the Paris Exhibition.

1920 - acquired the Bristol Wagon and Carriage Co and the Newlay Wheel Co.

1923 - purchased by Cammell Laird who subsequently closed the Armley factory in 1929.
