The Horwich Works was a railway works in Horwich that began production in 1886. A number of railway companies had ownership of the works during its life including the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, the London Midland and Scottish Railway, and British Railways. The works produced and overhauled steam locomotives and tender engines, some notable examples include the L&YR 1008 and the LMS Crabs.
