1930 - founded by Herman Fisher, Irving Price and Helen Schelle, and was given the name Fisher-Price by combining two of the three founders' surnames. All three founders had previously worked for large shops or toy companies. In 1969 the Quaker Oats Company bought Fisher-Price and Herman Fisher retired. In 1991, Fisher Price became a publicly traded company until 1993 when it became a subsidiary of Mattel. Mattel now uses the Fisher Price name on all of their pre school products.
