1631 - granted a royal charter by King Charles I. 1697 - petitioned the Lord Mayor of London for an Act of Common Council which would require all those working in the making of clocks and watches to take the freedom of the Clockmakers’ Company. 1776 - obtained a livery for the first time. 1813 - The Clockmakers’ Company Library founded. 1925 - the Clockmakers’ Library was placed in the City’s Guildhall Library.
