Self-taught amateur archaeologist and antiquarian who developed theory of ley lines in the British landscape; respected photographer and Fellow of Royal Photographic Society; made some of his own cameras and developed a photographic exposure meter in 1890s known as the 'Watkins Bee Meter'.
