1830 - moved to London. 1833 - invented perforated die stamps for the government Stamp Office. 1856 - delivered his paper, On the Manufacture of Iron and Steel without Fuel, before the British Association for the Advancement of Science meeting at Cheltenham, outlining his 'Bessemer' process of steel making. 1858 - opened the Bessemer Steel Works in Carlisle Street, Sheffield.
