1797 - engineer at Ding Dong mine, near Penzance. 1800 - introduced the double-acting high-pressure steam engine. 1801 - first public demonstration of Trevithick's locomotive engine. 1808 - 'Catch-me-who-can' exhibited. 1816 - went to Peru to oversee building of engines for mines. 1827 - returned to Britain. 1830 - invented an early storage heater. 1888 - 'Trevithick window’ placed in the north aisle of Westminster Abbey.
