Major French printmaker. Le Clerc moved to Paris in 1665, became a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts and Professor of Perspective in 1672 and engraver to the king in 1688. He created over 3,400 prints in his lifetime, many related to the Académie des Sciences. He also published independently on scientific subjects.
