In 1856 John and William Galloway entered into business together to for W. and J. Galloway and Sons. In 1889 the partnership was turned into a private company with a capital investment of £250,000; ten years later it became a public limited company. The company was still in existence at the start of the 20th century. Amongst other things the company manufactured boilers. They were based at Knott Hill, in Manchester.
