Factory established at Billingham on Teeside by Brunner Mond Ltd in 1923. Became subiduary of Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd (ICI) with formation of corporation in 1926. Bulk manufacturing of ammonia for fertilizer and explosives at Billingham was later followed by plastics and expansion onto a nearby new site at Wilton. ICI sold off various businesses in 1990s
