1927 - Bakelite Limited is formed from the merger of Redmanol Limited, Damard Lacquer Company Limited and Mouldensite Limited of Darley Dale. The merger agreement was signed by Leo Hendrik Baekeland and James Swinburne.

1962 - Merges with British Xylitone Ltd. Majority shareholding held by Union Carbide.

1978 - Union Carbide sells majority shareholding to BP
