King Edward VII was born in 1841 and was the successor to Queen Victoria in 1901.

1855 - visited Paris as part of a state visit to Napoleon III.

1858 - created KG.

1860 - becomes the first heir to the throne to visit Canada and the US.

1862 - following the death of his father, his mother sent him to Palestine and the Near East.

1863 - married Princess Alexandra of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg.

1871 - caught typhoid from the drains at Londesborough Lodge.

1874 - commodore of the Royal Thames Yacht Club.

1875 - toured India.

1881 - became a trustee of the British Museum.

1897 - ceased yacht racing.

1901 - ascended the British throne following the death of Queen Victoria.

1907 - opened the International Exhibition at Dublin.

1908 - visited Russia.
