Christopher Frank Mew joined British Railways in the Divisional Civil Engineers’ office in Kings Cross in 1958. In 1965, he moved to the Divisional Passenger Section, before moving during the same year into Freight Rolling Stock Control for the British Railways Board’s Central Wagon Authority. Between 1967 and 1971 he worked in the Traffic Costing office at Liverpool Street. He then worked on passenger services planning for the British Railways Board until 1974, before being appointed to work on investment appraisal for regional and headquarters schemes until 1981. He then moved to British Rail: London Midland Region Headquarters as an out-based Project Manager based at Birmingham for around nine years until 1990. Between 1991 to 1995 he worked on Crossrail as Consultation Manager Surface Areas. He has also worked as a railway consultant.
