1885 - founded by James and William Hesketh Lever in Warrington. Company expanded but in 1930 it merged with the Dutch company Margarine Unie, to form Unilever. For a while the name Lever Brothers as well as the name of the US subsidiary, Lever Brothers Company, and a Canadian subsidiary, Lever Brothers Ltd.
