c. 1980 - Chartex Resources Limited {prior name (?) Chartex International plc} purchases the rights to the Female Condom® (Femidom) from Lasse Hessel, a Danish physician. 1990 - the company is floated on the Stock Exchange and changes name to Chartex International plc. 1997 - changes name again to The Female Health Company Limited (see Note for 'The Female Health Company').
