Charles William Krohne born Prussia 1823, founded a business making surgical equipment in Blackfriars, London at an unknown date, naturalised British subject in 1871. Joined by his half brother Henry Frederick Sesemann in 1860 lead to the formation of Krohne&Sesemann. Supplied surgical instruments and acted as distributors for Brin's Oxygen Co (later the British Oxygen Co Ltd). Both were interested in anaesthetics. Kronhe died in 1904. 1926- The business was bought by Alfred Cox (Surgical Ltd) (later Cox Surgical).

Business located 1860- Whitechapel, 8 Duke Street, later West End became the head office and factory, the Duke Street premises were rebuilt in 1908, destroyed by a bomb later.
