The London Transport Executive (LTE), commonly known as London Transport, was the organisation responsible for public transport in London and its environs in the period between 1948-1963. It was created in the Transport Act of 1947 and replaced the London Passenger Transport Board. The company was publically owned and then became part of the British Transport Commission via the 1963 Transport Act.
